Tips

The area offers beautiful, quiet roads perfect for cycling. These include signposted cycle routes on quieter roads and the so-called "voie vertes" (green cycle paths), often former railway lines converted into cycle paths. The sometimes challenging climbs are a real challenge for experienced cyclists. Otherwise, simply bring your electric bike.

The Limousin's undulating terrain is ideal for mountain biking. This way, you can improve your (cycling) fitness and discover beautiful spots amidst unspoiled nature. Challenging mountain bike trails can be found around Limoges and in the Millevaches Nature Park, such as the nearly 60 km loop Vassivière – Saint-Martin-Château – Peyrat-le-Château, with an elevation gain of 1654 meters.

The medieval town of Treignac lies on the Vézère River. Its fast-flowing waters are perfect for canoeing and rafting. Treignac boasts a large outdoor sports center where you can also enjoy a variety of other sports, such as fishing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), pedal boating, mountain biking, paragliding, and ultralight flying. If you still have some energy left, the town of Treignac has plenty to offer.

Nearby, Lac Saint Hélène (4.5 km) and the large Lac de Vassivière (22 km) offer both beaches and water sports (rental included). Around the latter, there are several beaches and sunbathing areas with food and drink options. You can also walk or cycle along the shores.

The quiet, undulating, and winding roads in the wider area surrounding Le Veau Vert are a true paradise in the eyes of avid motorcyclists. "Truly fantastic. You won't find such wonderful roads anywhere else."
